James Slade

Hearing Instrument Specialist Lic. #301

Jim’s interest and success in the field of audiology was born out of the recognition of one’s hearing needs and hearing differences. He had early career experience in industrial manufacturing, where he frequented automotive, stamping, and other machining and assembly plants. At these locations, loud noise and on-going insults to one’s hearing left Jim with a keen personal knowledge of how jobs or lifestyles can affect hearing loss over the course of one’s life. He began his career providing hearing help in 2002.

His long history with a variety of working populations supports his ability to relate to the hearing needs of a varied range of individuals. His history in industry has aided him in honing the valued skill of problem-solving. In the field of helping clients identify and perfect those nuances of hearing differences, these skills serve him well. He enjoys the challenge of assisting his clients with their hearing needs and provides the adjustments that address the requirements that may be unique to that individual.

Jim has a passion for fly-fishing, enjoying the sport in local lakes and rivers. He has a 120-pound Newfoundland puppy, named Ghillie, who enjoys being around the water with Jim and can be found on many of the local streams with Jim while he is flyfishing for trout. Jim, along with Ghillie, volunteers his free weekends in the summer months for the Casting for Recovery retreat programs for breast cancer survivors where he is an instructor. Jim is also an active member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks and he and Ghillie are regularly found at the Shriners Hospital in Springfield making many children happy.
