We recently surveyed our customers and asked them what their favorite things to hear with their hearing aids were. Over 500 people responded and told us overwhelmingly that conversations with family and friends were what mattered most.
This mirrors what our hearing care experts see and hear every day – our relationships are what matter most, and meaningful connections with others require hearing the people we care about clearly. That’s why we ask everyone to bring a friend or family member to their hearing test appointment; it helps to talk over your results with someone who knows you and who can remind you why hearing is important in your life.
Read on for the complete list of things our customers love to hear with their hearing aids:
1. Conversations with Family or Friends – No more asking others to repeat themselves and being able to participate in the conversation were so important for our survey respondents.
2. Laughter – The laughter of grandchildren, family and friends is a joy that should be heard at full volume.
3. Music (both from musicians and listeners) – Hearing all the parts of music gives this hobby depth and enjoyment that many had been missing.
4. Nature Sounds (birds, water, wind) – The sounds of nature, especially birds chirping, are good for our health and well-being.
5. Television or Movies – Our customers love being able to hear the television at a normal volume and going to the movies again.
6. Everyday Sounds (doorbells, phones)
7. Grandchildren – Hearing grandchildren talk, play and laugh are sounds no one wants to miss.
8. Phone calls
9. Clocks or windchimes
10. Overall Awareness – Many customers reported feeling safer because they were more aware of their surroundings.
When we asked our customers why these sounds were meaningful to them, we learned that many people wish they’d gotten hearing aids sooner. Not needing to ask others to repeat themselves was a common response. Our hearing aid wearers reported feeling included, less stressed and more confident.
