John Idema

John Idema is a National Board-Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist (BC-HIS) with more than 30 years of successful experience helping the hearing impaired. John’s professional journey began in 1981 when he received an A.A.S. degree in Communicative Disorders and went on to get his B.Sc.. degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology. After that, he attended graduate school, spending one year of training in clinical audiology, and another year in educational audiology. Finally, he spent a year pursuing graduate training in counseling and educational psychology.

John believes the adage that no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care. Caring is paramount in helping others hear better. “Communication is considered by many to be our most important human activity. It breaks down when the speaker's message is not understood. Understanding what's heard is necessary for communication to occur. Consequently, hearing is essential for a quality life,” says John. “Helping people hear is my life's mission. I care about my customers and do all I can to help them hear better.”

Very interesting meeting with robert...gave me information about my hearing and hearing aides that no one else had done in previous appointments. He was very helpful.

Very detailed testing and conversation with the specialist, Mr. Abromeit.. He was informed on new technology and well versed in every aspect of the testing process and results.

I was a tad confused when the receptionist asked for payment after telling me an hour prior that the testing consultation was cost free on entering the office, as is advertised? Please advise as to why this occurred.

I have 9 year old hearing aids that I need to have « tuned up  or replaced  for current hearing loss », I appreciated the time and testing to give me a review period for deciding on what I need to do in my near future. Thank you, Mr. Abromeit! You are excellent!

I had an appointment with Jeff Schetter on November 20, 2023 where he tested my hearing and fitted me with new Oticon rechargeable hearing aids. I was happy that he reached out to me and informed me of the Black Friday sale that was going on at the time. I knew that when I got newer hearing aides I wanted to stay with Oticon. Jeff set me up with the same quality, if not better, to what I had previously and because of the sale I was able to save some money. Also, I was given information for payment plans and the office staff was very helpful and accommodating I’m still in the “fine tuning” stage but so far am really quite pleased with my newer hearing aides. Thank you for your help, of knowledgeable staff and having an office close by, that isn’t over an hour away.
