Akila was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Arizona and received her Doctor of Audiology degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She completed her clinical externship year at a rigorous Ear Nose and Throat practice, before joining HearingLife in 2017.Akila’s passion is helping people connect with their loved ones through better hearing and communication. Her hobbies include dancing, hiking and learning to play the piano.

Cathy Kurth

Cathy Kurth grew up in Glenville, Illinois. She opened the Audiology and Hearing Aid Center in 1981 in downtown Scottsdale, and since, opened offices in North Scottsdale and the Greyhawk area. She joined HearingLife in 2016. Cathy has been practicing audiology since 1976. She received her Doctor of Audiology in 2002 from the Arizona School of Health Sciences, a division of A.T. Still University of Osteopathic Medicine. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in Chicago and her Master of Audiology from the University of Illinois. Cathy is licensed by the State of Arizona and clinically certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She’s a member of the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists, and fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Cathy received her Board Certification from the American Academy of Audiology. She maintains the highest level of knowledge and education about emerging hearing aid technologies and the changing needs of hearing-impaired patients.
